Ovations at Theatre Cedar Rapids last night was very special for me and countless others. To reinforce the idea of "expect the unexpected, " I helped kick off the program by walking onstage wearing a lovely, strapless cocktail dress and heels. (Thanks, Marcia Hughes for making it so public! LOL. ) A highlight was when Joyce Whiteman and I paid tribute to her husband and presented the first Gene Whiteman Newcomer Award to Jesse Flaherty, the delightful and talented star of Billy Elliot. I was completely humbled to receive the Fed Hedges Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to me by long-time friends, Cherryl Moon Thomason and J. David Carey. I can't begin to express my gratitude to TCR and the countless friends, family, and colleagues who continue to support me and my passion for theater and all of the arts. I am richly blessed, and I hope my 40 years of arts involvement in this area inspires others to realize the joy of life-long participation in the arts. Thank you, TCR, for being such a vital part of my life. June Bridals green color selections for cocktail
